Job Overview

The Curriculum Development Specialist will design, develop, and evaluate curriculum materials for primary and secondary education programs supported by the World Bank in Liberia. Working within the Education Programs department, you will collaborate with subject‑matter experts, teachers, and government officials to create culturally relevant, standards‑aligned instructional resources. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify gaps in existing curricula across core subjects.
• Design and develop curriculum frameworks, lesson plans, teacher guides, and assessment tools that reflect international best practices and local context.
• Collaborate with Ministry of Education officials to ensure alignment with national education standards and policies.
• Facilitate workshops and training sessions for teachers and curriculum advisors on new instructional materials.
• Pilot curriculum modules in selected schools, collect data, and perform rigorous analysis to inform revisions.
• Prepare detailed documentation, reports, and presentations for donors, stakeholders, and senior management.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of curriculum interventions on student learning outcomes.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends in educational technology, pedagogy, and inclusive education.

Required Skills

• Strong expertise in curriculum design, instructional design, and assessment development.
• Excellent analytical and research skills, with ability to translate data into actionable curriculum improvements.
• Proficiency in using digital authoring tools and learning management systems.
• Effective communication and facilitation skills for diverse audiences, including teachers, policymakers, and community members.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multicultural environments and manage multiple stakeholders.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages such as Kpelle or Loma is an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Curriculum Studies, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., ADDIE, TPACK) are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants must have 3‑5 years of proven experience in curriculum development for K‑12 education, preferably within an international development or donor‑funded context. Experience working with government education ministries or NGOs in West Africa will be viewed favorably.

Salary
