Job Overview

The Senior Curriculum Development Specialist will lead the design, adaptation, and implementation of curricula for primary, secondary, and vocational education programs funded by World Bank projects. Working within the Education & Training department, you will partner with local educators, ministry officials, and international experts to create culturally relevant, competency‑based learning materials that align with Liberia’s National Education Policy and global best practices. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify gaps in existing curricula across subjects and grade levels.
• Develop and pilot competency‑based curricula, lesson plans, and assessment tools that reflect local context and international standards.
• Collaborate with Ministry of Education officials to secure alignment with national standards and secure policy endorsement.
• Lead workshops and training sessions for teachers, curriculum specialists, and school administrators on new instructional materials.
• Monitor and evaluate curriculum implementation, collecting data to inform iterative improvements.
• Produce high‑quality technical reports, policy briefs, and knowledge‑sharing products for stakeholders.
• Manage a multidisciplinary team of curriculum designers, subject matter experts, and graphic designers.
• Ensure all deliverables meet World Bank procurement and quality assurance guidelines.

Required Skills

• Expertise in curriculum design, instructional design, and competency‑based education frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate research findings into practical learning solutions.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills for diverse audiences, including government officials and community leaders.
• Proficiency in using digital authoring tools, e‑learning platforms, and data analysis software.
• Project management experience, including budgeting, timeline management, and stakeholder coordination.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages such as Kpelle or Bassa is an advantage.

Education

A Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Instructional Technology, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) or adult learning are considered a plus.

Experience

At least eight years of progressive experience in curriculum development, preferably within an international development or governmental context. Demonstrated success in leading large‑scale educational reforms and experience working in West Africa or similar environments is highly desirable.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 45,000,000 to SSP 70,000,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
