Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Hydropower Systems Designer to join our specialized renewable energy division in Nimba. This role is critical to our mission of expanding sustainable energy access across the region. You will be responsible for the complex design and technical specification of large-scale hydropower installations. This position requires a deep understanding of fluid dynamics, turbine technology, and electrical grid integration. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design and modeling of hydroelectric turbine systems and auxiliary equipment.
- Perform complex hydraulic calculations and structural integrity assessments for dam-based projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate hydropower outputs into existing national grids.
- Develop detailed technical specifications and procurement documentation for specialized components.
- Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to determine optimal plant configurations.
- Ensure all designs comply with international safety standards and local environmental regulations.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software and hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB).
- In-depth knowledge of hydroelectric plant components including penstocks, governors, and generators.
- Strong project management capabilities and ability to lead technical design reviews.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills for complex engineering challenges.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with stakeholders and international teams.
Education
A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources or Hydroelectric Power is required. A PhD in a related field is highly preferred.
Experience
A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the design and implementation of large-scale hydropower projects is mandatory. Proven experience working within the renewable energy sector in emerging markets is a significant advantage. Candidates should have a track record of managing complex technical documentation and leading design teams.
Salary
The offered salary for this position ranges from 450,000 to 750,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s expertise and technical proficiency.
