Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Agronomy Consultant to lead our crop research and field optimization initiatives in the Lofa region. This role is critical for our long-term sustainability goals, focusing on improving soil health, pest management, and crop yields for our local partner farmers. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between laboratory research and practical field application, ensuring that our agricultural techniques are both scientifically sound and economically viable for local communities. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement large-scale field trials to test new seed varieties and fertilizer applications.
- Provide technical guidance to field officers and local farming cooperatives to optimize crop production.
- Analyze soil and plant tissue samples to develop customized nutrient management plans.
- Monitor and report on pest and disease outbreaks, developing integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
- Collaborate with the R&D team to adapt global agricultural technologies to the specific climatic conditions of Liberia.
- Develop training modules for local farmers to promote sustainable and regenerative farming practices.
Required Skills
- Advanced expertise in tropical soil science and crop physiology.
- Strong data analysis skills using statistical software for field trial evaluation.
- Excellent communication skills for training diverse groups of stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of sustainable agricultural standards and certifications.
- Ability to work in remote field locations under varying environmental conditions.
Education
A Master’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a closely related agricultural field is mandatory. A PhD is highly preferred for this senior-level consultancy role.
Experience
A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in agronomic research or field management, preferably within the tropical agriculture sector. Proven track record of managing large-scale agricultural projects is essential.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 450,000 SSP to 750,000 SSP, depending on experience and qualifications.
