Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Agronomist to lead our crop research and field implementation programs in the Lofa region. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement large-scale field trials to evaluate new seed varieties and fertilizer efficiencies.
- Develop comprehensive crop management protocols to improve soil health and minimize environmental impact.
- Provide technical leadership and training to field officers and local farming cooperatives.
- Analyze soil and plant tissue samples to provide data-driven recommendations for nutrient management.
- Monitor pest and disease outbreaks and develop integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
- Collaborate with local government agencies to align agricultural programs with national food security goals.
Required Skills
- Advanced expertise in soil science, plant pathology, and crop physiology.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software for agricultural research data.
- Strong project management skills with experience in rural development settings.
- Excellent communication skills for training diverse groups of stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of tropical agriculture and sustainable farming methodologies.
Education
A Master’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a closely related agricultural field is mandatory. A PhD is highly preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a strong academic background in research methodology and field experimentation.
Experience
A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in agronomic research or field management is required. Proven experience working in West African agricultural sectors or similar tropical environments is a significant advantage. You must have a track record of managing complex field trials and leading technical teams.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 450,000 SSP to 650,000 SSP, depending on experience and qualifications. This competitive package reflects the high level of expertise required for this role.
