Job Overview

The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager will lead Nestlé Liberia’s quality assurance program, ensuring that all products meet stringent local and international safety standards. This role is pivotal in safeguarding consumer health, maintaining brand reputation, and complying with regulatory requirements set by the Liberia Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, as well as global standards such as ISO 22000 and GFSI. The manager will collaborate closely with production, R&D, supply chain, and senior leadership to embed a culture of continuous improvement and risk mitigation throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) based on HACCP, ISO 22000, and local regulations.
  • Conduct regular internal audits, risk assessments, and gap analyses to identify and remediate potential food safety hazards.
  • Lead the investigation of product complaints, non‑conformities, and food safety incidents, ensuring timely root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities for inspections, certifications, and compliance reporting.
  • Train and mentor cross‑functional teams on food safety best practices, GMP, and sanitation procedures.
  • Oversee supplier qualification, raw material testing, and vendor audits to ensure incoming materials meet quality specifications.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including SOPs, batch records, and traceability logs, in accordance with Nestlé’s global standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and data‑driven analytics to enhance product safety and operational efficiency.

Required Skills

  • In‑depth knowledge of HACCP, ISO 22000, GFSI, and local food safety regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑focused mindset.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to influence and motivate multidisciplinary teams.

Education

The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, or a closely related discipline. Advanced certifications such as Certified HACCP Practitioner, ISO 22000 Lead Auditor, or a Master’s degree are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.

Experience

Applicants should possess a minimum of five years of progressive experience in food safety and quality assurance within a manufacturing environment, preferably in a multinational corporation. Demonstrated experience in leading audits, managing regulatory compliance, and implementing continuous improvement projects is essential.

Salary
