Job Overview

This Food Product Development Specialist role is part of Cargill Liberia’s mission to innovate and expand its portfolio of nutritious, shelf-stable food products. The position requires a creative and technically skilled professional to lead the design, testing, and commercialization of new food items that align with Liberia’s agricultural resources and consumer demands. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct market research to identify emerging food trends and consumer preferences in Liberia and neighboring West African countries
• Develop and test new food product formulations using locally sourced ingredients
• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with Liberia’s food safety regulations and international standards
• Optimize production processes for scalability and cost-efficiency
• Prepare technical documentation for product registration and labeling requirements
• Provide training to production staff on new product specifications and handling procedures

Required Skills

• Expertise in food product formulation and sensory evaluation techniques
• Knowledge of food preservation methods and shelf-life testing
• Proficiency in food safety management systems (HACCP, ISO 22000)
• Strong analytical skills for cost-benefit analysis of product development projects
• Creativity in designing products that reflect Liberian culinary traditions
• Excellent communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration

Education

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Agricultural Engineering, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees (Master’s) in Food Technology or Business Administration are a plus but not required.

Experience

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in food product development, preferably within West African markets. Experience with both traditional and modern food processing techniques is highly desirable.

Salary

5,000,000 – 7,000,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
