Position Summary

The Heavy Duty Driver will be responsible for safely operating compactor trucks for municipal waste collection and disposal, maintaining vehicle functionality, performing inspections, and ensuring compliance with company operational and safety standards.

The role demands a disciplined professional capable of working under pressure and adapting to demanding schedules including weekends, holidays, and early morning shifts.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Vehicle Operations & Transport

  • Safely operate compactor trucks to collect, transport, and dispose of municipal waste
  • Follow assigned routes and operational schedules efficiently
  • Ensure safe transportation of waste materials according to environmental and safety standards
  • Adhere to all traffic regulations and company driving procedures

Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance

  • Conduct daily inspections including:
    • Tires
    • Brakes
    • Hydraulic systems
    • Engine oil
    • Vehicle lights
    • Mechanical systems
  • Report vehicle defects or maintenance needs immediately
  • Assist mechanics during minor repairs when necessary
  • Maintain assigned vehicles in clean and operational condition

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow workplace safety procedures and road regulations
  • Report accidents, breakdowns, or operational incidents to supervisors immediately
  • Ensure proper use of safety equipment and operational guidelines
  • Maintain accurate operational records and compliance documentation

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain logbooks for:
    • Trips completed
    • Mileage records
    • Fuel consumption
    • Vehicle maintenance activities

Education Requirements

Applicants must possess:
