Job Overview
The Corporate Counsel will provide comprehensive legal support to the World Bank’s Liberia operations, ensuring compliance with both internal policies and external regulations. This role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, advising on procurement and financing agreements, and managing legal risks associated with development projects. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, finance teams, and external counsel to facilitate smooth project execution and protect the Bank’s interests. Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including loan agreements, procurement contracts, and public‑private partnership documents.
- Provide legal advice on regulatory compliance, anti‑corruption policies, and fiduciary standards applicable to World Bank projects in Liberia.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify legal risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate with external counsel and local authorities to ensure alignment with Liberian law and international best practices.
- Support the preparation of legal opinions, memoranda, and briefing notes for senior management.
- Maintain and update the legal repository, ensuring all documentation is accurate and accessible.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to promote legal awareness across the organization.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of contract law, procurement regulations, and international development financing.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Proven negotiation skills and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly.
- Familiarity with Liberian legal framework and experience working in emerging markets.

Education
A Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school or an LL.B. from a recognized university is required. Additional certifications in international law, procurement, or development finance are advantageous.
Experience
Applicants must have 5‑7 years of relevant legal experience, preferably within an international organization, development bank, or a reputable law firm handling cross‑border transactions. Experience in the African context, especially Liberia, will be considered a strong asset.
