Job Overview

The Legal Counsel will provide comprehensive legal support to PwC’s clients and internal teams, focusing on corporate governance, contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution. This role requires a proactive advisor who can translate complex legal concepts into actionable business strategies, ensuring that clients achieve their objectives while adhering to Liberian law and international standards. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with tax, audit, and advisory professionals to deliver integrated solutions that drive client success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including joint venture agreements, service contracts, and licensing arrangements.
  • Provide legal advice on corporate governance, company formation, mergers and acquisitions, and restructuring activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Liberian statutes, regulations, and international legal frameworks relevant to client operations.
  • Conduct legal risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for high‑impact projects.
  • Represent PwC and its clients in negotiations, mediations, and, when necessary, litigation support.
  • Stay current on legislative changes affecting sectors such as energy, maritime, and natural resources, and advise clients accordingly.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate legal considerations into business proposals and advisory services.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in French is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proven negotiation skills and the capacity to influence senior stakeholders.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality.

Education

A recognized law degree (LL.B. or equivalent) from an accredited university is required. Admission to the Liberian Bar or a comparable jurisdiction is essential. Advanced certifications or a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in corporate or commercial law are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of five years’ experience practicing corporate, commercial, or regulatory law, preferably within a multinational law firm or in‑house legal department serving diverse industries. Experience advising on cross‑border transactions and familiarity with international arbitration will be highly regarded.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 1,200,000 to 2,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and benefits are part of the total compensation package.
