Job Overview

The Agricultural Business Development Manager will spearhead Cargill’s growth initiatives in Nimba County, identifying new market opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and driving revenue across the agricultural value chain. This role is central to expanding Cargill’s footprint in Liberia, aligning with national goals for food security and export diversification. The successful candidate will work closely with local cooperatives, government agencies, and international donors to design and implement programs that increase farmer incomes and improve product quality. Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities within the cocoa, coffee, and staple crop sectors across Nimba County.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with farmer groups, cooperatives, NGOs, and government bodies to facilitate joint initiatives.
  • Lead market research and feasibility studies to inform product development and pricing strategies.
  • Design and implement agronomic training programs that improve yield, quality, and sustainability.
  • Negotiate contracts, supply agreements, and partnership terms that align with Cargill’s commercial objectives.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators, sales pipelines, and financial forecasts.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including logistics, finance, and compliance to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Represent Cargill at industry conferences, trade fairs, and stakeholder meetings to enhance brand visibility.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in English and a local language (e.g., Bassa or Kpelle) preferred.
  • Proven track record in agribusiness development or sales within emerging markets.
  • Deep understanding of agricultural value chains, commodity markets, and rural financing mechanisms.
  • Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in agribusiness, supply‑chain management, or international development are considered an asset.

Experience

Minimum of five years of relevant experience in agribusiness development, sales, or market expansion, preferably within West Africa. Demonstrated success in managing large‑scale projects and achieving revenue targets is essential.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of 2,500,000 – 4,500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the compensation package.
