Job Overview
The Port Operations Manager will lead Maersk’s port activities at the Freeport of Monrovia, overseeing the seamless movement of cargo, coordination with customs, and collaboration with shipping lines, terminal operators, and local authorities. Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily port operations, including vessel berthing, cargo handling, and yard management.
- Coordinate with customs, immigration, and port authorities to ensure timely clearance and compliance.
- Develop and implement operational KPIs, safety protocols, and performance dashboards.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of supervisors, stevedores, and administrative staff, providing coaching and performance feedback.
- Optimize resource allocation, equipment utilization, and labor scheduling to maximize efficiency.
- Manage relationships with shipping agents, freight forwarders, and third‑party service providers.
- Oversee implementation of digital tools such as terminal operating systems and real‑time tracking platforms.
- Ensure adherence to environmental standards and corporate sustainability initiatives.

Education

Experience
Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in port operations, terminal management, or large‑scale logistics, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in West African ports or emerging markets is a strong plus.
Salary
