Job Overview
This role focuses on digitizing and documenting Liberia’s intangible and tangible cultural heritage, including oral histories, traditional crafts, and archaeological sites. The position requires expertise in digital archiving tools, field documentation, and cross-cultural collaboration. Candidates will contribute to ICCROM’s global mission while supporting Liberia’s cultural preservation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys to identify and document cultural heritage sites and artifacts.
- Utilize 3D scanning, photogrammetry, and GIS tools for digital preservation.
- Collaborate with local communities to record oral histories and traditional knowledge.
- Develop metadata standards and manage digital archives for accessibility and long-term preservation.
- Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders, including government agencies and international partners.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in digital archiving software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS).
- Experience with 3D modeling and photogrammetry techniques.
- Strong cross-cultural communication and community engagement skills.
- Knowledge of international cultural heritage preservation standards.
- Ability to work in remote field conditions with limited resources.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology, Cultural Heritage Management, Digital Archiving, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in heritage documentation are preferred.
Experience
3-5 years of experience in cultural heritage documentation, digital archiving, or field research. Prior work in Sub-Saharan Africa is an asset.
Salary
1,500,000 – 2,500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
