Job Overview

This role is part of Suez Liberia’s mission to expand safe drinking water access across rural and urban communities. The Water Treatment Plant Operator will manage day-to-day operations at a newly constructed facility in Zwedru, ensuring compliance with national and international water quality standards. The position offers hands-on technical work, professional development, and the opportunity to contribute to public health and environmental sustainability in Liberia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and operate water treatment systems, including filtration, chlorination, and sedimentation processes
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of pumps, valves, and electrical systems
  • Collect and analyze water quality samples to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Document operational data, maintenance logs, and safety protocols
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to optimize plant efficiency
  • Respond to emergency situations such as equipment failures or water supply disruptions

Required Skills

  • Proven experience operating water treatment plants or similar industrial facilities
  • Familiarity with water treatment technologies and safety regulations
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in using SCADA systems or process control software
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to environmental sustainability and public health

Education

  • Diploma in Environmental Engineering, Water Technology, or related field
  • Certification in water treatment operations (preferred but not mandatory)

Experience

  • 2-3 years in water/wastewater treatment operations
  • Experience in Liberia’s water sector or West African region (advantageous)

Salary

2,500,000 – 3,500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience.
