Job Overview

This role focuses on designing and implementing solid waste management strategies in Bong Mines, addressing challenges like landfill optimization, community education, and regulatory compliance. The position supports Veolia’s mission to achieve zero waste to landfill by 2030 through technical expertise and stakeholder collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute solid waste collection, sorting, and disposal protocols
  • Conduct waste audits and environmental impact assessments
  • Train community stakeholders on sustainable waste practices
  • Monitor compliance with national environmental regulations
  • Coordinate with local authorities to improve waste infrastructure
  • Track and report waste management metrics to senior leadership

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in municipal waste management systems
  • Knowledge of waste-to-energy technologies and recycling processes
  • Strong project management and cross-sector collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping for waste route optimization
  • Excellent public speaking and community engagement abilities
  • Fluency in Liberian English and local dialects preferred

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Health, or related field
  • Professional certification in Waste Management (CWM) is an asset

Experience

  • 3-5 years in environmental services or municipal waste operations
  • Previous work in developing-world contexts preferred

Salary

2,500,000 – 3,500,000 SSP/month (performance-based incentives available)
