Job Overview

The Risk Management Officer will play a pivotal role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial and operational risks across Ecobank’s Gbarnga operations. Reporting to the Head of Risk Management, the officer will develop risk policies, conduct credit risk analysis, monitor market exposures, and ensure compliance with local and international regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for loan portfolios, investment products, and operational processes.
  • Develop and maintain risk rating models, credit scoring systems, and risk dashboards.
  • Monitor daily risk indicators, prepare risk reports, and present findings to senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with Central Bank of Liberia regulations, Basel III standards, and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with credit, treasury, and compliance teams to implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in audit reviews and support internal and external audit processes.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on risk awareness and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with proficiency in Excel and risk modeling tools.
  • In‑depth knowledge of credit risk, market risk, and operational risk frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills for reporting complex risk concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is required. Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or CFA are advantageous.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have 3‑5 years of experience in risk management, credit analysis, or a similar role within the banking sector. Experience with regulatory compliance and risk reporting in a West African context is highly valued.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary ranging from SSP 1,200,000 to SSP 2,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses may also be awarded.
