Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Project Engineer will lead the planning, design, and execution of solar and wind projects throughout Liberia, with a primary focus on the coastal region surrounding Buchanan. Working closely with cross‑functional teams, the engineer will ensure projects meet technical specifications, regulatory standards, and budgetary constraints. Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed engineering designs for solar photovoltaic and wind turbine installations.
- Conduct site assessments, resource analyses, and feasibility studies to determine project viability.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, schedules, and procurement plans.
- Coordinate with local utilities, government agencies, and community leaders to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
- Oversee construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Monitor project performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with the finance and legal teams to structure project financing and contractual agreements.
- Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and presentations for senior management and external stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of renewable energy technologies, especially solar PV and wind power.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, PVSyst, and MATLAB.
- Excellent project management abilities, including risk assessment and mitigation.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with Liberian energy regulations and environmental compliance.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field is required. Advanced certifications in project management (PMP) or renewable energy (e.g., NABCEP) are highly desirable.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in the design, development, and implementation of renewable energy projects, preferably within West Africa. Experience managing large‑scale installations and working with international partners will be considered an asset.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 1,800,000 to SSP 2,500,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.
