We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Port Operations and Terminal Management Specialist to join our dynamic team at the Buchanan port facility. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all terminal operations including vessel loading/unloading, stevedoring, and yard management to maximize throughput and minimize vessel turnaround time.
- Develop and implement operational procedures, safety protocols, and contingency plans to ensure a secure, efficient, and compliant working environment.
- Manage the allocation and maintenance of terminal equipment (e.g., cranes, straddle carriers, reach stackers) and coordinate with the maintenance department to minimize downtime.
- Liaise with shipping lines, customs authorities, freight forwarders, trucking companies, and other key stakeholders to ensure smooth cargo flow and resolve operational issues promptly.
- Analyze operational data and performance metrics (e.g., berth productivity, equipment utilization) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare and manage the terminal operations budget, controlling costs related to labor, equipment, and materials while maintaining service quality.
- Lead, mentor, and train a team of operations supervisors and frontline staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and professional development.
- Ensure strict adherence to all international port security (ISPS) codes, environmental regulations, and local maritime laws.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Port Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Candidates holding a Master’s degree in Maritime Affairs or Business Administration, or professional certifications such as Certified Port Executive (CPE) or similar, will be given strong preference. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complex technical and commercial aspects of modern port management.
Experience
A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in port operations, terminal management, or maritime logistics is mandatory. At least 3 years must be in a specialist or supervisory capacity within a medium to large-scale port or terminal environment. Proven experience in managing container terminal operations, implementing process improvements, and leading diverse teams is critical.
