Job Overview

The Mining Operations Safety Manager will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs across Newmont’s mining sites in the Buchanan region. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive safety management systems tailored to mining operations.
• Conduct regular site inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments to proactively mitigate potential incidents.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action planning to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure compliance with Liberian mining safety regulations, ISO 45001 standards, and Newmont’s internal safety policies.
• Provide safety training, coaching, and mentorship to supervisors, operators, and contractors.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and environmental teams to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution.
• Prepare and present safety performance reports to senior management and external stakeholders.
• Promote a safety‑first culture through communication campaigns, safety committees, and employee engagement initiatives.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of mining safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
