Job Overview

The Industrial Automation Engineer will design, develop, and implement automation systems for Schneider Electric’s manufacturing clients in Liberia and the broader West African region. This position involves integrating programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human‑machine interfaces (HMIs), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems to optimize production lines, improve safety, and enhance overall equipment effectiveness. The engineer will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including project managers, electrical designers, and field technicians, to deliver turnkey solutions that meet client specifications and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

• Design and program PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems for manufacturing automation projects.

• Collaborate with clients to define requirements, propose solutions, and ensure alignment with business objectives.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, Structured Text).
• Experience with HMI development tools such as Wonderware, WinCC, or Ignition.
• Strong knowledge of industrial networking protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Project management experience with a focus on delivering on time and within budget.
• Familiarity with safety standards such as IEC 61508 and ISO 13849.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates with additional certifications in PLC programming, SCADA systems, or industrial cybersecurity will be given preference.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing automation solutions in a manufacturing environment. Experience working on large‑scale projects in emerging markets, particularly within West Africa, is highly desirable.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from 1,200,000 to 2,000,000 Liberian SSP, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with performance‑based bonuses.
