Job Overview

The Data Privacy Officer will lead KPMG Liberia’s data protection initiatives, ensuring that client and internal data handling practices comply with Liberian data privacy legislation, the African Union’s Convention on Cyber Security, and international standards such as GDPR. This role involves developing privacy policies, conducting impact assessments, and advising senior leadership on risk mitigation strategies. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive data privacy policies and procedures aligned with local and international regulations.
  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new projects, services, and client engagements.
  • Provide expert guidance to audit and advisory teams on privacy risks and mitigation tactics.
  • Lead training sessions and awareness campaigns for staff on data protection best practices.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and update internal controls to ensure continuous compliance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for data subjects, regulators, and external auditors.
  • Prepare and present privacy compliance reports to senior management and board committees.

Required Skills

  • In‑depth knowledge of Liberian data protection laws, GDPR, and other relevant frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for translating complex legal concepts into actionable business guidance.
  • Proficiency with privacy management software and data mapping tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • High ethical standards and attention to detail.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or ISO 27701 Lead Implementer are highly desirable and will be considered a strong advantage.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in data privacy, compliance, or information security roles, preferably within financial services, consulting, or multinational environments. Demonstrated experience in leading privacy programs, conducting DPIAs, and interacting with regulators is essential.

Salary

The annual compensation package ranges from 1,200,000 to 1,800,000 SSP, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and retirement benefits.
