Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Chief Geotechnical Engineer to lead our technical assessments and design processes in Grand Cape Mount. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee complex geotechnical investigations, including borehole logging, in-situ testing, and laboratory testing programs.
- Provide expert technical leadership in the design of foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks for large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Review and approve geotechnical reports, design calculations, and technical specifications produced by junior engineers.
- Collaborate with structural and civil engineers to ensure seamless integration of geotechnical designs into overall project frameworks.
- Manage risk assessments related to ground conditions and develop mitigation strategies for unforeseen geological challenges.
- Mentor and develop a team of geotechnical engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in geotechnical modeling software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar industry-standard tools.
- Deep understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and seismic engineering principles.
- Exceptional project management skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams under tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities regarding complex geological data interpretation.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting technical findings to non-technical stakeholders and clients.
Education
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field is required. A PhD in a specialized geological or engineering discipline is highly preferred.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering, with a proven track record of leading large-scale infrastructure projects. Experience in West African geological conditions is a significant advantage. We are looking for leaders who have successfully navigated complex terrain and high-risk construction environments.
Salary
The offered salary for this position is between 450,000 SSP and 750,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s expertise and experience level.
