Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Urban Planning Consultant to lead large-scale urban redevelopment projects in the Bomi region. This role is critical for ensuring that rapid urbanization in Liberia is managed through sustainable, equitable, and resilient frameworks. You will be responsible for designing spatial layouts, analyzing demographic trends, and coordinating with government stakeholders to implement long-term infrastructure strategies. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of comprehensive urban master plans for emerging municipalities.
- Conduct detailed spatial analysis and land-use feasibility studies.
- Coordinate with local government authorities to ensure compliance with national zoning laws.
- Oversee environmental impact assessments for new residential and commercial zones.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams including civil engineers, architects, and environmental scientists.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for high-level stakeholders and international donors.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and AutoCAD.
- Deep understanding of West African urban development trends and regulatory frameworks.
- Exceptional project management and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Strong analytical skills for demographic and economic modeling.
- Ability to navigate complex socio-economic landscapes in developing regions.
Education
A Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, City Planning, or a closely related Civil Engineering discipline is mandatory. A PhD in Urban Design or Sustainable Development is highly preferred.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 7 to 10 years of professional experience in urban planning or large-scale infrastructure consultancy. Proven experience working in sub-Saharan Africa or similar emerging markets is essential for success in this role.
Salary
The offered salary range for this position is 450,000 to 750,000 SSP per annum, depending on the candidate’s expertise and performance during the interview process.
