Job Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Wildlife Conservationist to lead our field research and protection initiatives in the Salala region. This role is essential for monitoring endangered species and developing mitigation strategies to reduce human-wildlife conflict. The successful candidate will oversee field teams, manage data collection, and collaborate with local government agencies to ensure the effective management of protected areas. Key Responsibilities

• Lead complex ecological field surveys to monitor population trends of keystone species.
• Develop and implement community-based conservation programs to reduce poaching and habitat encroachment.
• Coordinate with local law enforcement and forest guards to enhance anti-poaching patrols.
• Analyze spatial data using GIS to identify critical wildlife corridors and habitat fragmentation.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports for international donors and government stakeholders.
• Manage field research budgets and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Required Skills

• Advanced proficiency in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and spatial analysis software.
• Expertise in wildlife population estimation techniques and ecological modeling.
• Strong project management skills with experience leading multidisciplinary field teams.
• Excellent scientific writing and technical reporting capabilities.
• Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to non-scientific stakeholders and local communities.

Education

A Master’s degree in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Environmental Science, or a closely related field is required. A PhD is highly preferred and will be considered an advantage for this senior-level position.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 to 7 years of professional experience in wildlife conservation, preferably in a tropical forest or savanna ecosystem. Proven experience in managing field operations in remote locations and working with diverse cultural groups is essential. Experience in data-driven conservation planning is highly desirable.

Salary

The monthly salary for this position ranges from 450,000 SSP to 750,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience level.
