Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Agronomy Research Scientist to join our specialized research team in Lofa, Liberia. This role is critical to our mission of optimizing crop yields and developing resilient plant varieties tailored to the specific ecological conditions of the Liberian landscape. The successful candidate will lead field trials, analyze complex biological data, and translate scientific findings into actionable recommendations for local farmers and agricultural stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute large-scale field trials to evaluate new seed varieties and crop protection products.
- Analyze soil health, pest patterns, and plant physiological responses to various environmental stressors.
- Collaborate with local agricultural extension services to implement best practices in crop management.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and scientific publications based on research findings.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all local and international agricultural safety and environmental regulations.
- Lead a team of field technicians and research assistants in data collection and trial maintenance.
Required Skills
- Advanced expertise in plant pathology, soil science, or crop physiology.
- Proficiency in statistical software such as R, SAS, or Python for biological data analysis.
- Strong understanding of tropical agricultural ecosystems and pest management strategies.
- Excellent scientific communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage complex research projects with minimal supervision.
Education
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, Soil Science, or a closely related biological field is required. A PhD is highly preferred for this senior-level position.
Experience
Candidates must possess at least 5 to 7 years of professional experience in agricultural research, preferably within a commercial biotechnology or large-scale agricultural enterprise. Proven experience working in tropical climates is a significant advantage.
Salary
The offered salary range for this position is 450,000 to 650,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
