Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Project Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and commissioning of solar and hybrid power projects in Buchanan and surrounding counties. Reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, the incumbent will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, local authorities, and international partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on high‑visibility projects that directly contribute to Liberia’s energy independence and climate goals. The engineer will also be responsible for conducting feasibility studies, managing vendor relationships, and providing technical guidance to construction crews.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed engineering designs for solar PV, battery storage, and hybrid systems, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards.
- Conduct site assessments, resource analysis, and feasibility studies to determine project viability and optimal system sizing.
- Prepare technical specifications, tender documents, and procurement packages for equipment and services.
- Coordinate with civil, electrical, and mechanical contractors during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Monitor project progress, manage schedules, and report status to senior management and stakeholders.
- Implement health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols, conducting risk assessments and safety briefings.
- Perform performance testing, data analysis, and post‑commissioning optimization to ensure target energy output.
- Support community outreach initiatives, explaining project benefits and addressing local concerns.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in renewable energy design software (e.g., PVSyst, HOMER, AutoCAD).
- Strong understanding of electrical power systems, grid interconnection, and energy storage technologies.
- Excellent project management abilities, including budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder communication.
- Analytical problem‑solving skills with a data‑driven approach to performance optimization.
- Effective written and verbal communication in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in challenging field environments.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, PE, or specialized renewable energy credentials (e.g., NABCEP) are advantageous.
Experience
Minimum of three to five years of hands‑on experience in the design, installation, or operation of solar or hybrid renewable energy projects. Experience in West African markets, familiarity with Liberian regulatory frameworks, and a track record of successful project delivery are highly valued.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from 3,500,000 SSP to 5,500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and pension contributions.
