Job Overview
The Senior Automation Systems Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of automated production lines for Siemens’ manufacturing clients in Liberia and the broader West African market. Reporting to the Automation Director, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop scalable solutions that improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance product quality. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end‑to‑end engineering of automation projects, from concept through commissioning and handover.
- Develop detailed control system architectures, PLC programs, HMI designs, and SCADA interfaces.
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components.
- Perform risk assessments, safety analyses, and compliance checks in accordance with IEC 61508 and local regulations.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Drive performance monitoring, data analytics, and predictive maintenance strategies using Siemens’ MindSphere platform.
- Engage with clients to understand their production challenges, propose tailored automation solutions, and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens S7, TIA Portal) and industrial networking (PROFINET, Ethernet/IP).
- Strong understanding of robotics integration, motion control, and vision systems.
- Experience with HMI/SCADA development, data acquisition, and cloud‑based analytics.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities, with a focus on root‑cause analysis and systematic troubleshooting.
- Effective communication skills for client interaction and cross‑team collaboration.
- Project management competence, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field is required. Advanced certifications such as Siemens Certified Programmer, Certified Automation Professional (CAP), or a Master’s degree in Automation will be considered an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience designing and deploying automation solutions in manufacturing environments, preferably within the automotive, food‑processing, or heavy‑industry sectors. Demonstrated success in leading multi‑disciplinary project teams and delivering projects on time and within budget is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 120,000 to SSP 180,000 per month, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and performance. Salary is complemented by performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a retirement savings plan.
