Job Overview
Newmont Mining Corporation is seeking a Mining Community Engagement Specialist to lead initiatives that foster positive relationships between mining operations and local communities in Gbassa, Liberia. This role is critical to ensuring transparent communication, addressing community concerns, and implementing programs that enhance social license to operate.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute community engagement strategies for mining operations in Gbassa.
- Facilitate dialogue between Newmont, local leaders, and community members.
- Monitor and report on community feedback to improve operational practices.
- Design and implement CSR programs focused on education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
- Coordinate with government agencies to ensure compliance with local regulations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in community relations or mining sector engagement.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.
- Fluency in English and local languages (e.g., Kpelle, Bassa).
- Excellent project management and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Familiarity with mining operations and environmental impact assessments.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Public Administration, or related field.
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required.
Experience
- 3-5 years in community relations, CSR, or mining sector roles.
- Experience in Liberia or West Africa highly advantageous.
Salary
12,000,000 – 18,000,000 SSP annually, commensurate with experience.
